"We make a living by what we make. We make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill

Independence Day is just around the corner. A day that we celebrate all the unique and beautiful aspects of our 243 year-old country. The song, "America the Beautiful", talks about spacious skies, purple mountains, and fruited plains. How fortunate are we in Delta County to be able to say we have all of these attributes? And though, we won't live to be 243, we can age in the area we love, in large part because we have a health system here to care for us.

Through the DCMH Foundation, we hope to support that system through scholarships for continuing education in health care, and projects and programs that provide quality care and enhance the well-being of our community. At the halfway point of this year, the DCMH Foundation has contributed $30,000 towards that mission.

The next scholarship and open funding application deadline will be September 3! We encourage your or your organization to contact us prior to that deadline for further discussions before going through the application process.

Hospital Happenings!

It happened. We blinked. And just like that, half of the year is almost over.  But just in case you were thinking we were taking a minute to slow down, think again! Here at DCMH we have a busy July planned!

This month we are welcoming Dr. Amber Angels, MD to the Delta Family Medicine Clinic. Dr. Angles comes to us with a specialized emphasis in obstetrics; and of course as a family practice physician, she is specially trained to care for patients of all ages. If you get the chance, make sure to give Dr. Angles, and her family a warm Delta County welcome.

When we think of summer in Delta County, there is no doubt, we think of Deltarado Days! This year DCMH is sponsoring the climbing wall, so hope to see you on July 27. We will also have a booth next to the climbing wall, where you can learn more about the Sports Physicals available at Delta Family Medicine, Urgent Care, and the West Elk Clinics.

And finally, before we know it, we will be announcing our latest DAISY nominees and winner. DAISY is a special program where patients and community members are able to recognize the compassionate skillful care of nurses throughout the hospital. If you know an incredible nurse who deserves recognition, we would love to hear from you! To nominate a nurse at DCMH click here.

And from everyone at Delta County Memorial Hospital, we wish you a Safe and Happy Independence Day!
